The City of Hasselt processes your personal data in the applications and requests that you submit to the e-portal with a view to finding a solution for parking questions.

When processing your personal data, we respect the General Data Protection Regulation or GDPR and, where applicable, any other relevant regulations relating to the protection of the rights of natural persons when processing their data.

Personal data includes all information about an identified or identifiable natural person, such as your name, contact details and any other information or documents by which you can be identified as a natural person.

Through this privacy policy we inform you about our policy to protect your rights when processing your personal data.

The person responsible for processing your personal data is the city of Hasselt, Limburgplein 1, 3500 Hasselt.

The personal information we collect and use through the e-portal

Your credentials

We collect and store any personal information you provide to us when signing up, for example:

-        First name and surname

-        Address

-        Phone number

-        E-mail address

-        National Insurance number

-        License plate number

 

2.    How we collect data

 

We collect the data described above because you voluntarily enter it into the e-portal.

3.    How do we use your personal data and for what purposes?

 

We process your personal data in the context of creating and maintaining the affordable parking formula you have requested. In order to be able to assess, at the time of your application and after the award, whether you (still) meet the conditions for granting the discounted parking formula, this information is kept and checked. The application can be made via the e-portal and/or at the payment terminal.

This processing is based on our task in the general interest to offer parking options to residents, as included in the 'Retribution regulations for paid parking at Dusartplein, Astrid and Cultuurcentrum car parks' as approved by the municipal council of the city of Hasselt on 28/11 /2023.

 

 

4.    Who has access to your data and to whom do we pass it on?

4.1  Recipients who can receive information about you

Information relating to you is in principle only processed internally. It is possible that we rely on third parties (“processors”). In that case, we ensure that these processors only act under our control and responsibility, for which we also conclude the necessary agreements with them.

We pass on your data to third parties if we are obliged to do so on the basis of a contractual or legal obligation or if a legitimate interest justifies this (for example to defend our interests).

4.2  Processors on behalf of the city of Hasselt

 

General

For some services we rely on specialized partners who act as processors and who are contractually linked to us.

The city of Hasselt ensures that these "processors":

·       Have only the information necessary to perform their duties, and

·       With regard to the city of Hasselt, you undertake on the one hand to process these data confidentially and on the other hand to use them only for the performance of their tasks.

·       Are carefully selected to ensure that they, and their related entities that have access to your personal data, protect your data in the same manner as stated in this Privacy Policy and as required by applicable privacy laws and the rules, policies and guidelines of the platform provider.

5.    Will my personal data be transferred to a third country?

 

We do not process or transfer your personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA).

6.    Data Retention and Deletion Policy

 

6.1  Data retention

We will retain your data for as long as you remain an active user of your account on the e-portal, for the statutory limitation period and for any other retention period as required by applicable laws and regulations.

 

7.    What rights do I have in relation to my personal data and how can I access it?

 

In accordance with applicable regulations, you have a legal right to request free access to your personal data in order to view, supplement, correct, amend, delete or transfer it upon request.

More specifically, you, as a data subject, have the following rights in accordance with the applicable regulations and under the applicable conditions:

Right to ACCESS & RECTIFICATION: the data subject always has the option to view and correct his personal data and the retention period.

Right to DELETION:the data subject has the option, under certain conditions, to request the deletion of his personal data, including historical data, to the extent that this is no longer required in the context of the retention policy of the City of Hasselt.

Right to notice: the data subject is assured that in the event of a possible breach of his personal data, he will be informed.
